Introducing Barb Klein

Barb Klein comes to The Advocacy Center as the new Director of the Parent Training and Information Center naturally, having been a consumer, a Lay Advocate, and a member of the Speakers Bureau.  She collaborates regularly with students at St. John Fisher who are preparing to become teachers, sharing her personal story from a parent’s perspective.  Barb has also volunteered as a presenter at several Disability Awareness Days at local schools.  Barb has a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters degree in Elementary Education, and she has attended many conferences and workshops in an effort to expand her knowledge around the needs of students who have disabilities.

Barb had this to say about joining The Advocacy Center:   “This role is very exciting to me because I know personally how important parent education is and how empowering it is to become an informed participant in the special education process.  It is something I feel very passionate about and I am excited to be working with the staff at The Advocacy Center and our Core Community Partners to reach out across the state to assist families in receiving an appropriate education for their children.”
